Waking up before sunrise and getting six miles in before noon, that's what I like to see. Sadly, some afternoon rains kept the rest of the evening fairly stagnant.
We sat for a while in the parking lot of the Launch Pad, a diner off Route 66 that is now closed. However the lack of food didn't stop anyone from parking and taking pictures next to the Gemini Giant.
We found a few hours of entertainment in taking pictures of people taking pictures, and watching crowds of bikers and classy cruisers amass in front of the statue.
Embracing our inner hobo, we set up camp amongst broken bottles, alongside a river, under the highway, in a town we have never been to before and do not care to come through again. Its quite the way to sleep, give it a try some time if you get the chance!
Also, the first person who can accurately guess what happened in that first picture wins a postcard from us on the road!
The easy cheese wasn't so easy?
ReplyDeleteI think an extremely large, hairy spider dropped by while you were enjoying a delicious meal of ramen noodles. Unfortunately you spilled your bowl in an attempt to beat a hasty retreat? On another note.....the Eckhouts are glad to hear your trip is going well. We wish you both a safe and enlightening journey!
ReplyDeleteCheese wiz - Pilot error ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat route are you planning on taking? If we know where you are headed, it will be easier to locate friends on the way.
ReplyDeleteLots of good guesses, but my mom and Dawn were the only two to actually guess correctly. It was a cheese battle with n army of monstrous ants outside of a chemical testing facility.
ReplyDeleteAnd as far as our route goes, I'll include that in tomorrows update!
