Wow, maybe 11 is my lucky number

This world has a huge heart :)

We woke up this morning, for the second time, on the floor of a dorm in Roosevelt University. Once again, I would like to thank Mallory and her roommates for letting us stay with them. And also, I would like to thank Ashley for the coffee, though it is quite the delayed thank you.

After spending the morning in a small breakfast cafe, we made our way back to the college cafeteria for some cupcakes and a final goodbye.

The afternoon found us lazing around millennium park. It was while nick was sleeping on a bench, and I was absentmindedly playing a guitar that an awesome dude who has spent the last seven months on the streets whom we came to know as shaggy wandered up and asked if he could play. Seeing his grateful dead tattoo, what was I to do but say yes?

He was an excellent player and singer, and did some awesome beat boxing stuff on the side as well.

We decided to take him out to lunch, letting him decide where to eat, and ended up at Harolds , where we had some of the greatest Chicken I've ever eaten in my life.

We sat around and chatted for a few hours about music and our backgrounds before deciding it was time to part ways.

About that time we realized it was time to head back to Union Station to catch our train out of Chicago, headed towards the much more open city of Manhattan (Illinois).

An hour later we stepped onto the platform and were reminded of how peaceful the world away from skyscrapers is. We could see the horizon over rolling fields, and it was lovely.

Not seeing a bathroom at the station, we decided to make our way north to where it looked like there might be a party store. A man in a pick up recommended a bike path that we never would have taken otherwise, and then we took another shortcut off of the first one into a neighborhood that looked like it just might get us to where we were headed.

Little did we know that those two turns that we took by chance, in a town that we never planned to be in when we woke up this morning, would lead us to an incredibly kind family with some of the biggest hearts in the world.

Seeing us walking, we were promptly invited in for a drink and a comfortable chair. As if that was not enough, they gave us some snacks and water for the road, an extremely generous donation to our food fund, and even let us pitch our tents in their back yards!

Thank you so much Scott, Kathy, Jake, and Jakes friend (whose name I will put up in the morning once I am reminded of what it is)! It really means the world to us, and Scott, I hope the team you were rooting for won!

I woke up this morning not know what city I was going to sleep in, and I am falling asleep tonight with an incredible sense of pride to be a part of humanity.

Don't be afraid to go down a road you have never walked before, every choice you make can lead to limitless possible outcomes, and do the right thing even if you are not sure you can :)
